The Mug, en liten forts

Jag gissar att ni är många som sitter och undrar hur det gick med den spännande Vistaprint-historien, där jag hade ett sådant himla sjå med att få ordning på the Mug. Faktum är att jag också undrar, för det hela slutade med att jag fick följande mejl:

The image was not stretched, we have ordered a PDF Proof of the Mugs so that you may have an idea of how the Mug should look upon arrival.
Once you have ordered your Proof, it may take from a few minutes up to an hour for your request to be processed. You will receive an e-mail informing you that your Proof is ready.
The confirmation e-mail will contain a link to access your Proof or you may follow the steps below:
Log on to www.vistaprint.se
Click on My Account at the top right of the page
Locate the My Resources area and click on My Proofs under My Library
Select the Proof for the document you wish to view
To view the proof, you will need to have Adobe Reader installed on your computer. If you do not currently have Adobe Reader installed, it is easy to install and available for free download at: http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/?promoid=DJDXD
Your document Proof should be reviewed for layout, content, spelling and clarity. However, you should not use this proof to validate color. Your monitor and your color printer will not precisely display or print the color that our commercial printers will produce.
Please note that your proof will be accessible for 30 days from date of ordering. Once it expires, it will be deleted from your account.

Detta skulle föreställa ett svar på två väldigt enkla frågor. Jag ville veta 1) om "the outstretched å" var en sorts käck 3D-illusion och 2) om å:et skulle se likadant ut på den färdiga muggen som i den förbaskade previewen. Jag bad bara om ett simpelt "yes" eller "no" på dessa frågor men fick alltså i stället ovanstående svar. Så då kände jag att jag helt enkelt inte orkade mera. Jag hade ingen lust att logga in en gång till. Jag kände inte för att lokalisera My Resources och klicka på My Proof under My Library och studera en pdf som kanske kanske inte skulle se ut som den bild jag hade laddat upp. Men vi får väl se vad som händer. Det är möjligt att jag helt enkelt chansar och gör en till beställning någon gång.

That slippery medium

Så brukade Niels Bohr säga till sina kollegor – han var dansk, fysiker, nobelpristagare och inblandad i Manhattanprojektet – apropå att vi alla sitter ohjälpligt fast i det språkliga. Såväl poeter som fysiker, alltså. Vad gör man åt det? Vet inte. Det går ju inte ens att vara obegriplig och meningslös.

På bilden sitter Niels Bohr och filurar och figurerar med Albert Einstein. Både citatet och rubriken på det här inlägget kommer från boken "The Making of the Atomic Bomb" av Richard Rhodes som jag håller på och läser just nu.
